Wettability of graphene, water contact angle, and interfacial water structure

چکیده

Understanding the details of water interacting with graphene is essential for various applications, such as desalination, energy storage, and catalysis. However, hydrogen-bonding structure at graphene-water interface has not been fully understood. Vibrational sum frequency generation (VSFG) spectroscopy suited to elucidate interfaces. With varying numbers layers or tuning doping level a single monolayer, interfacial differs substantially. Specifically, number increases, molecules non-H-bonded, dangling OH groups become increasingly apparent. The fraction inferred from VSFG spectrum correlates adhesion graphene. This observation suggests that could be an incisive technique measuring on any spatially confined where contact angle cannot measured. We anticipate will shed light wettability low-dimensional materials.

Wettability of supercritical carbon dioxide/water/quartz systems: simultaneous measurement of contact angle and interfacial tension at reservoir conditions.

Injection of carbon dioxide in deep saline aquifers is considered as a method of carbon sequestration. The efficiency of this process is dependent on the fluid-fluid and rock-fluid interactions inside the porous media. For instance, the final storage capacity and total amount of capillary-trapped CO2 inside an aquifer are affected by the interfacial tension between the fluids and the contact an...

Water‐CO2‐mineral systems: Interfacial tension, contact angle, and diffusion—Implications to CO2 geological storage

[1] The interfacial interaction between mineral surfaces and immiscible fluids determines the efficiency of enhanced oil or gas recovery operations as well as our ability to inject and store CO2 in geological formations. Previous studies have shown that the interfacial tension and contact angle in CO2‐water‐mineral systems change noticeably with fluid pressure. We compile previous results and e...

Characterization of Interfacial Structure in PEFCs: Water Storage and Contact Resistance Model

In this work, an analytical model of the microporous layer MPL and the catalyst layer CL interface under compression is developed to investigate the effects of the MPL|CL interfacial morphology on the ohmic and mass transport losses at the MPL|CL interface in a polymer electrolyte fuel cell PEFC . The model utilizes experimentally measured surface profile data as input. Results indicate that th...

Viscosity of interfacial water.

The effective shear viscosity and frequency-dependent dynamic oscillatory shear spectra of water containing monovalent or divalent ions (ionic strength 25 mM), confined between mica crystals at 1-2 water molecules thickness, oscillated with twist angle with the period expected for the pseudohexagonal surface lattice. The effective viscosity varied by orders of magnitude as the twist angle was c...

Dynamic contact angle of water-based titanium oxide nanofluid

This paper presents an investigation into spreading dynamics and dynamic contact angle of TiO2-deionized water nanofluids. Two mechanisms of energy dissipation, (1) contact line friction and (2) wedge film viscosity, govern the dynamics of contact line motion. The primary stage of spreading has the contact line friction as the dominant dissipative mechanism. At the secondary stage of spreading,...
